Qbittorrent downloading torrents so slow
The active torrents were often listed as "Stalled". As noted in the previous post, Transmission seems to work fine. This works for me. Just change the maximum download speed from infinity to some large finite number double your internet speed to make sure you don't accidentally limit yourself and downloads now are back to full speed. Weird bug. This worked for me at full speed with 4. With infinite enabled, there is no speed actually. Not sure what has changed in Big Sur.
It used to work fine. But after I restarted macOS, this problem went back again. I changed the number of max download speed to whatever and it worked again.
Same here, the problem is back after restarting, changing the max download speed didn't seem to work this time around. Really weird, switched to Transmission for now until this gets fixed.
Has anyone heard anything from the devs on this? All is very quiet. My fix stopped working, not sure why. Didn't log out. What got downloads working again without reboot and restarting qBittorent was turning off "Apply limit to uTP protocol". Actually in the Transmission forums people also report issues. Turning on uTP helped there. This method didn't work for me.
If it's stuck at Downloading Metadata the only way for it to start downloading again is a reboot. However, the user Kolcha has been able to provide valuable help in the past. Unsure, all the downloads act significantly weird and unpredictably now in Big Sur. Maybe it has something to do with Apple using servers to see application signing?
No idea. For now, I've switched to Transmission temporarily and it works with no issues on Big Sur. It took me 5 hours to download on Big Sur, something that would have taken 45 minutes on Catalina. BlackWidowMovie0 For now, move to transmission.
That's the best solution. Some intermediate ones are posted above in this thread but don't stop it from returning sporadically.
But I need to do it every time I re-open qBitorrent I close it when internet drops out so it doesn't seed before my VPN reconnects, and sometimes need to reboot for other reasons. FranciscoPombal I'd be open to testing it. BlackWidowMovie0 If you've got testing and ideally debugging skills , feel free to report back your findings. It's simply throttles TCP protocol.
There was no such problem on 3. Thanks Shooshka. I downgraded to V3. Not sure if its fixed things overall, but speed is uch more consistent and not diving close to zero. I was using latest version and on windows Downloading 3.
I was just running v 4. I had to reset win10 and reinstall all my programs. But that only gave me a snail speed dl. Now I've downgraded after day 3 and I'm finally hitting my full dl speed with v 3. Thank you buggerlugz! That seems to help a LOT! Still a bit of up and down, but that's probably just due to the torrent itself. Certainly much higher average speed now. Once I reboot it flies up in speeds again I'm on gigabit.
Just installed v4. Interestingly, sometimes the first min is fine, then it is stuffed. Stalling at zero download speed, odd spike in download speed. Reinstalled v4. Out of interest, I decided to double check my findings, installed v4. Now downloading is crippled for that version too!?!?!
Tried uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting, no avail. Have to log out to kill it. Get "access denied" when trying to kill it via task manager. This issue has been closed and locked for being too old, and thus either most likely resolved in recent versions or no longer applicable. If you experience the reported problem or similar in the latest version, please open a new issue report with the requested information in the issue template.
A new issue report with relevant updated data gathered from the latest version is preferable to necroing an old report with a comment like "still happens in version x. You want the latest tracker list so three months is a useful time limit to add to your search. Having an open port can seriously improve your download speed in any bit torrent client.
Downloads do still work without a working port but they are much faster with one. Select Connections and look at Listening Port. Visit CanYouSeeMe. Port forwarding is handled differently in every router. Then retest using the website. Most firewall programs allow you to set exceptions for particular programs. You will need to do this for qBittorrent and perhaps for the port too.
Experiment with just setting the program as allowed and then add the port to see if it makes any difference. Having DHT and Peer Exchange enabled in the BitTorrent section ensures you will be able to access the widest pool of peers for your file.
This is essential in finding the fastest connections so you can complete your own download faster. The other side to checking your sources is selecting healthy torrents. Most torrent tracker websites will give you an idea of how many seeders and leechers are on each file. You ideally want a higher number of seeders than leechers so there are more sources for the download.
